    Seagate Serial ATA Drives

Well, I'm a little ticked off - despite saying they're "available now" right on their front web page since Decemeber, they apparently don't plan to start normal distribution of the drives until the middle of February. I ordered some a while ago.

Also, in addition to the thinner cable (should be a lot better for case airflow, especially in RAID setups), they have a new power connector, so you need to buy a special power adaptor so you can use them with a normal ATX power supply's connectors.

Anyone know if anyone besides Seagate makes native SATA drives and are available?

    Get these: Mozilla Opera OpenBSD
I have books for sale: "MCSD in a Nutshell" and "VB Distributed Exam Cram" - PM me for details. Will also trade for a decent ATX Pentium 2 MB/CPU/RAM combo.

I think only Seagate makes 'em, sorry Josh Thou mid-feb is still really good, I saw a website just now saying that they were going to be "demonstrated in 2003 and distributed in 2004".

Just on a side note, I remember seeing a connector that allows a SATA drive to connect to a HighPoint RAID controller... I didn't know what that meant then but I suppose I do now .
All contents of the above post that aren't somebody elses are mine, not the property of some media corporation.
    (Just a heads-up)

Go to http://www.seagate.com and look at the box on the right side of the body of the page - makes you think you could go out and buy one. My vendor apparently cannot get any SATA cables or power adaptors either. Sigh.
