ok i made my app work as an appbar (like the taskbar, or icq). However, my app is a shell replacement, and when i use it as the shell, it behaves like a normal form - other windows dont resize so it covers them up (since its always on top and non-moveable).
it *should* work - Explorer shell has no functions im calling on to make the appbar (not that i could - its an exe). and all other api calls im making work fine - shellexecute, setwindowpos, etc.
help!!

You have to tell Windooz that the working area for windows is the desktop size minus the size of your form.
I can't check it right now, but if you can't figure it out, I'll look for you, I have an appbar (+ soure) which does the "appbar trick" including fixing the stuff so max. windows doesn't cover up the taskbar.

I am using a different AppBar code, and it works fine as the shell. Email me if you want it, Tom.

ok.. thanks mark for the code.. but it does *way* more stuff than i need - its 69k and i dont really want a huge 69k class in my already huge project
if anyone who knows quite a bit of API (its complicated) wants to find the relevant bits out of the class, email me and ill send you it.
