Unhappy No Reporting Tool in VB .NET (Standard)

Since there is no reporting tool and Crystal Reports Developer is too expensive for a small developer, can I use the older version (on the VB 6.0 CD) in VB .NET?

    Will it work for me?

I just need it to build a payroll program, but a sales rep at Crystal Decisions to me this afternoon that I needed the developer version, but that is too expensive for our business case. Was he just trying to make a bigger sale? Has anyone used the standard version of crystal reports with the standard version of vb .NET?

Active Reports for .NET (www.datadynamics.com). It is about 500 for the standard edition, but it is truely awesome. Get the full featured trial version in order to see if it is what you want.
