Simple Question
Hey Corned Bee and Pranksie,
How far dose your knowlege extend in C++, Windows API, and Direct X? Im wondering....
Ohh and could ya guys create a game, with direct x, not a simple break through, but something more advanced, like FF7 or something? Just wondering.
A way to find answers, is to ask questions, for a question that has been asked may seem stupid for 5 minutes, but a question never asked will remain unknown forever.

Hehe I find this a very funny question
I mean how can you measure how good you are in any language?
I think both Parksie and CB are very skilled programmers, as well as some others.
I think that anyone with enough time and a good brain can write something like FF7 if he really is dedicated to the project. It's all about logic, knowledge of computers and just the will to finish it.
Anyway, I'm not a skilled (C++) programmer, and I think my main problem is that I get confused, well, I get jammed quite easily.. If something doesn't work something just seems to block in me which stops me from continueing on a prog, just losing interest in it.
On the other hand, at my work, if I come across a problem, I'll keep trying and trying untill it works. So I am trying to pull myself together and think logically, which eventually will make me see the light and fix the problem.
So this is my main goal for this year, really dig into C(++) to get to know how things work. I actually was quite good in VB, I could do virtually anything I wanted with it (if it was possible in VB ofcourse), then I learned C++ and things went quite well. But then I didn't program for a year, and now I seem to lost everything, I can't even make a good working class from scratch, well ok that worked for me now, and I know I'll pick up things very easily quite soon, so that's what i want this year
Wow damn why the **** am I writing all this? just a confirmation for myself or something.. hmm enjoy programming guys

Hmm...
How would I classify myself?
I know nearly everything about the core C++ language mechanisms, though I still have to learn a good deal about how to employ those mechanisms efficiently (there's more you can do with templates than you would imagine).
I know quite a lot about the STL, probably more than "yer average programmer".
I also know quite a lot about the WinAPI, even the weirder parts like COM things. But there are special fields like the CryptoAPI that I don't know much about.
I don't know much about DirectX, I'm currently not dedicated enough to learn it.
And I know quite a lot about the MFC, especially about its inner workings.
So, yes, I could probably write FF7 (what's FF7?) given a LOT of time and a few good artists to assist me, but it would take much learning along the way and I'd probably lose interest.

I think FF7 means Final Fantasy VII?
