    Dependency Problem DCOM

I just ran the packaging and deployment wizard and when it was done it gave me this message:

"You have included mdac_typ.exe in your installation package. If you will be installing this package on a Windows 95/98 system, it will require DCOM98 to install properly."

Do I have a problem here, is this a file I need to include or can I disregard this?

I have MDAC 2.7 installed on the workstation that this app was built on.

Also how do you include a disclamer in the setup program? Something like "Warning this is a beta and may cause your machine to implode. I warned you so don't come crying to me if it happens."

    Thank you

    David

    Just a thought...

If you already have mdac installed on the client pc...then don't include it in the package!

This will be distributed to a couple dozen users geographically spread out and on variety of OS's.

My understanding is that since I developed the app using a computer with MDAC 2.7 installed that the users machines will also need MDAC 2.7 to run the app. And the machines that have Win 98/95 OS will need also DCOM98 or they won't be able to run it.

The users will be installing the software themselves. I have no access to their machines.
    so... I think I'm stuck.

If they have IE5 or better, DCOM is already on the machine. If they don't have IE5 or better, then may I recommend an upgrade (either to Win98, or IE5).

But don't include it in the install.

Don't include which one, DCOM98, mdac_typ.exe (MDAC 2.7) or both?

    Thanks

    DCOM.
Should be safe to include mdac2.7.

Or, offer two installs. One w/ MDAC, and one w/o.
