    I screwed UP!

My home computer has XP Pro on it. I took it to work last week to run some tests and had our IT guys hook it into the network. Without thinking, (and I do this alot) I just disconnected it and took it home at the end of the day. Now at home it is looking for the network domain "Planning" and I can't get anywhere passed the darn login screen.

Anybody know what I need to do to get out of this situation? I don't return to work until 1/6 and I could really use the computer at home.

    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

Yeah your best bet is to go into Safe Mode and try changing the network settings around, I dont know but on my machine, If I unplug the router or something, It boosts up, it has a 'your pc has just recovered from a serious error' error box but thats about it.

    Hi M8

    Try...

Disconnecting your NIC card, and re-boot. XP should detect a change in settings, and request you change your setup... change it back to local and it should be fine.

If you NIC is O/B, go into your BIOS, and disable it... it should have the same effect.

    Next... (last resort)

Delete all SAM's from your system, apart from the windows\system32 file, and reboot. It will have lost all username's and passwords... but the physical profiles will remain intact. Simply take all the files from (X):\Documents & Settings\OLD USERNAME\*.* and copy them into your new profile. Job done!

    Or...

Take it back to work, reconnect it, and change it there.

    Regards,

    Paul.
