    LOL, i wish, this text book sucks. There's no import statement, and I've tried a few generic * imports and nothing.
    The text didn't have any cd or anything else..
    Like I said, it sucks..lol

    Oooops.....theres another semi-colon in the wrong spot....

    Anyhow, is the code you are looking at an entire class, or just part of one? If you are doing any kind of GUI work there should be at least an import of java.awt.*, or javax.swing.*

    Try replacing MessagePanel with just panel, or JPanel, and see if it compiles.
