Please refer to the following thread for the background to this dramatic saga:
    http://forums.vb-world.net/showthrea...threadid=32409

I still can't get this thing to install! After no luck with Install Shield Express (BTW, I think the '430' problem had to do with the FSO - and when I commented out the FSO stuff and ran the app on the problem machine, I would get error '429' - "Active X Component cannot create object" - this seemed to occur when it was about to do data access (DAO - NOT ADO/MDAC)).

So I resorted to using the PDW, which I hate. Well, believe it or not, I created a "single directory" install, copied that install folder to the user's machine via the network, and I couldn't believe it, but it worked! OK - so much for the good news. The bad news is, this app has to be distributed on floppies for our customers. I created a floppy install with the PDW and ran into the dreaded "Please insert disk" problem. I've searched this forum and seen it mentioned, but was a viable solution ever found?

Any help is welcome, as I'm going nuts with this. While I'm waiting, I'm going to check out the free "Inno" install thing.

Thanks for the response, but the "multiple insert disk" problem has been around way before SP4 (which is why I switched to Install Shield Express). You'd think M$ would have fixed it by now, but this is apparently not the case. In any case, there is a dim ray of hope with the PDW because the "single directory" install went OK. I just need the stinking thing to work with floppies.

    Purchase a CD burner.

Can you distibute via CD? I ran into problem awhile ago, and now I use PDW, create 1 large CAB, and distribute via CD.
    Remaining quiet down here !!!

    Hello there,

Here is one from left field.

Use your single directory install from the PDW and use WinZip to make your floppies. i.e. use the disk spanning option of WinZip.

    It's just a thought.

Both good ideas, James and RvA. I'll see if the boss will go for the CD burner. I have considered the spanned WinZip disk idea, and may do something along those lines, although that would not be as "automated" for the users as I would like (we don't want them to work too hard, you know ...)

Well, I'll resolve this one way or another. Thanks again for the input, guys.
