How about putting the forum into a table, so it automatically increases or decreases in width depending on the viewers screen resolution. This is possible, coz the php script I use for my forums does this. Check out:

I think that the table does resize - does it not do so for you?

I am not sure about resizing for screen resolutions,
but when pages load(like on vbulletin.com/forum/index.php) the tables and stuff resize like mad!!!

About 50% of posts do so (800x600), but the other 50% can only be properly viewed in 1024x768.
