I assume he didnt obtain the copies legally, and wanted to get the MSDN Libraries, because VS6 doesnt come with help files for indivisual languages like VS5 did.
Well heres a way you can get a free year's subscription to MSDN Library if you record the serial number off the Help...About dialog.
I've gotten my MSDN Library July 2000 edition DVDrom a few weeks back, you can chose either CD(bout 4 CDs) or DVD(1 DVD) for your library format. (if yer in a hurry, you can look at MSDN library free online at msdn.microsoft.com)
For those of you that aren't aware, Microsoft is giving away a one year subscription to MSDN if you're the owner of one of the Visual Studio development tools (VB, Interdev, C++, J++). Just go to http://msdn.microsoft.com, and click on MSDN subscriptions, and then Subscription info. Then click on the FREE MSDN icon. You can specify either CDROM or DVD. Well worth the time it takes to fill out the form.

IT wouldnt matter
In some cases, several copies have the same number, also if it's the enterprise edition, there can be unlimited lisences, so with least the ent you dont have to worry about that either, my number came from my company that uses an MSDN Enterprise version of VS6, which under the new regulations is legal thru any employee of that company, thus each employee if they wanted to could get a copy of the MSDN library.
