some questions from a beginer
ok, i understand that this forum must see this question more then a few times a month, however, at the risk of being repetative i have to ask.
where can i learn DirectX, OpenGL, basically how to make games. rendering 3d images, what languages, what tools, etc. do places offer classes? do i have to teach myself. will companies teach me someof these things?
college does a great job teaching things commonly used. but i dont know where to learn so many things that companies look for when they are hiring.
SQL, Oracle, how to work with other apps. where do programmers learn all of this?

Good Ol' Platypus
I, being a self-taught person, just look for free tutorials on places like Google, and ask questions about things the articles don't go in-depth with. Seems to be working
All contents of the above post that aren't somebody elses are mine, not the property of some media corporation.
(Just a heads-up)

If you want to learn everything about programming. Start at a school that teaches you programming. I'm not sure what schools that are in your country. But I'm at an Engineering school here in Norway. And we learn Java, C++, ASM, Databases etc etc...But for a good start (and never stop doing it) search the net. Find tutorials for what you want to learn. Find a god forum (like this one) and get help with your apps...At least thats what I'm doing...

There are several institutions that do just game related instruction - Full Sail, DigiPen. More regular colleges are offering courses in game development. Try this - http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...amming+courses
GameInstitute.com is also a good place to look at.
