Warning: Do NOT buy a Rio

About a 10 days ago, I picked up a Rio 900 MP3 player from BestBuy (brand new) to gift to a cousin. Now he lives in India so I had immediately gift wrapped it and send it through a friend who was to leave for India the following day. Now, when he finally got it, opened it and turned it on, that was the end of it. He said he saw some strange text on it or something and then it never turned on again. Yeah, he was using a converter and it was on proper voltage. I looked at some reviews of this player on CNET and Amazon and found out that this was pretty common. Now he is stuck with the damn thing, half a world apart. Don't know when he'll be able to send it back to the US so I could get it replaced or hopefully, a refund. So to everyone out there.... DO NOT buy a Rio product for Christmas.

Why didn't you use a question mark instead of the exclamation mark?

hmm if your friend is from india perhaps the strange text he saw was... ENGLISH????? LOL

all kidding aside... i just got that new thing from creative... and it is awesome.. it unplugs from itself and plugs right into the USB port and shows as a drive.. no need for stupid cables or stupid software... no expandable slots... but it does hold 128 megs which is enough for me.. and runs on 1 AAA battery...

I don't know what's with the MP3 player craze but Im all MD. Especially NetMD. Waiting for the US model of MZ-N10 to be released. And yeah, i want to sell off my MZ-N1. I lost the remote so I'm willing to give it off really low (w/ 10MDs + backstyle headphones + leather carrying case + case to carry the discs). I bought all my stuff from minidisco.com. You can find it there. PM me for details.
