changing the windows shell ???
I saw something about this on TechTV one day, but forgot how to do it. I would like to change the windows shell to run in Opera...you know, so that i can browse my files, folders, and all that good stuff in Opera. (Cuz Opera roxors my boxors!) I know it's changing one line in some registry file or something, I just don't know which file or which line or whatever it is. I'd appreciate some help. Thanks.

under windows 9x and ME, i think it's either in win.ini or system.ini on the line called Shell=
windows nt, 2000, and xp it is in the registry... somewhere under software/microsoft/windows/currentversion. the key is called shell, i believe.

Do you mean a shell as in something like http://evilcowgod.com/desktop1.gif? If so I think you can just use some installer thing it came with. That shell Im running (SharpE) had some option that let you use it as your shell. You might want to test it on a different usre on your computer tho, since you might accidently stuff it up. If it doesnt have one I think you need to change something to do with this...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell
or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions
but Im propably wrong lol

No, he means changing the Windows Explorer (the one used to browse files). It should be possible, I'll look into it for you. Though, I can't try it myself, as I'm in Linux right now
All contents of the above post that aren't somebody elses are mine, not the property of some media corporation.
(Just a heads-up)
