May i suggest you do whatever you want to do with it.
We don't know what's wrong. . . So the best bet might be to remove something surgically.

Installing most current distros of Linux is as easy or easier then installing windows.

Try Debian
I'm fairly new to Linux, but I feel very knowledgeable about Windows stuff. The first Luinux I tried was Debian "potato", and found it quite difficult to install. It was tough getting the display settings correct, it had a hard time finding hardware, etc. It did, however, run on a very slow machine. After about 10 installs, I finally was able to get everthing working. SInce then, I've switched to Red Hat 8.0, and it was a breeze to install. It picked out all settings just like Windows does, great for the beginner. If you're looking for a challange, try Debian. After you get fed up with that, switch to Red Hat for a good stable machine.

whatever o/s you're installing, it should have a partition tool somewhere. just delete the linux partitions and don't destroy something you didn't mean to.
