    Gpu

    Is a HERCULES 3D PROPHET FDX 8500LE 64MB (BULK) for 92.00€ worth it?
    Anything else to recommend?

    writing software in C++ is like driving rivets into steel beam with a toothpick.
    writing haskell makes your life easier:
    reverse (p (6*9)) where p x|x==0=""|True=chr (48+z): p y where (y,z)=divMod x 13

    BTW, that chip doesn't have a GPU, nor a VPU.

    what's VPU? I can't afford a Geforce 4 Ti 4400, actually i can but i'm not willing to pay that much, i just need a decent card, price/performance wise.

    It does have a GPU, it's based round the R200 core, going from its name.

    thinking about buying a Ti4200 now, is there any significant differences between the manufacturers listed? Daytona seems cheapest is it worth getting?

    aTI cards would never use GPUs, if they do, they would be sued. GPU is a copyrighted trademark of nVidia. VPU is a trademark of ATI. Right now, only AIW 9700Pro and 9700Pro has VPU.

    Don't buy GF4 Ti4200, it's a waste.

    GPU stands for a Geometry Processing Unit, and refers to any hardware capable of hardware transformation and lighting of vertices.

    A GeForce4 Ti4200 is a perfectly capable card. I don't see anything wrong with it at all! Personally I would get a VisionTek or ABit (Siluro), but that's just my taste. I would stay away from those "unknown" brands like Daytona, they just won't offer support if you need it usually.

    VisionTek is bankrupt.

    I have a VisionTek Ti4400, got it 1 week before they closed their doors.

    Also, GPU = Graphic Processing Unit.
