the forums changed hands weeks ago, and nobody moaned about it.

    there are no new "mods".
there are new administrators - because they own the damn forum.

all the old mods and admins are still there.
karl's still here, john is still here. everyone's still here.

    so cop on. ffs.

Since Jupitermedia owns VBForums, and you say Brad et al own VBForums, it logically chains to Brad et al owns Jupitermedia .

    Is This True?

And If So, which one owns more, Brad, Gus, Someone Else?

    Duncan: You translate

    NotLKH: What they do :

Gus Venditto is the Editor-in-Chief of Jupitermedia Corporation. He is over all content on all Jupitermedia sites. This includes the article content as well as forums.

Brad Jones is the Executive Editor of software development topics. This includes the topic of Visual Basic. While he reports to Gus, he oversee the specific daily operations of a number of Web sites. As such, he is the person now responsible for VBForums and the VBWorld sites. He also oversees Developer.com, CodeGuru, and a few other sites

Also helping out Brad is Rich -- Rich is our community manager, responsible for the smooth operation of our many communities. For perspective, one of the jobs Rich is doing now is converting about a half dozen of our boards from an older message board platform to vBulletin. These boards cover HTML and JavaScript. Rich's job is to make sure the templates are setup OK and the membership procedures (ie, AUP approval in place) are running well. But he doesn't get into content issues. That is really Brad's role.

    Jamie,

I think most peoples concern is with the impostition on the new AUP - and the fact that we are being expected to agree to a new set of rules that we didnt sign up to.

The J4U debacle was an unfortunate event - It just happened to be the first time the new owners showed their hand. I am sure you will agree that had it been Karl who had banned J4U before he left, there would have been a similar campaign to reinstate him.

As you quite rightly point out the changeover happened at the beginning of November and 99% of the members here didn't notice (some of us did though )

The biggest fear in my own mind - and one which I am sure will concern many others - is that, now the site is trully a commercial concern, how long will it be before the pop-ups and banner ads appear. I say how long, because I see it as an innevitable thing having done a little research on some of the other sites that Jupiter media own.

I think it would behove the new admins to come completely clean about their future plans for VB forums - ok so there may be a few days of uproar, black avatars and all that crap, but it would soon blow over. Otherwise the result will be that every change that takes place will cause arguments and over the top posts.

I welcome the new Admins on board and I am not so narrow minded that I will immediatly throw my rattle out of the pram - I am more than willing to let them settle in, get to know the board and make their changes before I judge the results and then start shouting and making a fuss.

But what they should know is that with 30K users on the board they are far outnumbered. They need to treat it kindly or it WILL savage them.

Don't try to confuse the situation with facts.

Just rearing my head to say hello

Thanks for the support of everyone over these past few days. I've had to sit quietly in the background during this period, as internet.com made the official announcement, however I want everyone to know I'm alive and kicking.

You can't get rid of me *that* easily, y'know...

If they change the terms that you signed up for then you have to re-sign the agreement.

And John vbsquare hasnt been commercial whats going to happen to Sam and his site??

    Angry Spam alert!!

    Hello!

My major concern isn't the pop up adds. I've been closing popup adds for a few years now and I must say I'm getting pretty darn good at it!

With the new "ultra-commercial" owners of Vbforums, I'm worried about getting spam. Hopefully, if they honor the original agreement I signed up with, I won't get any email from them at any time.. at all. If the spam does start flowing in, I know I'll be packing my bags.

    Any thoughts?

I've been a member at an Internet.com board before and never got any spam. Hopefully that'll prove true for this site.
