'su' in Windows 2000
In Linux there is a command called 'su' to temporarily log in to the root (administrator) account so you can do system administration without having to actually log out and log in as root. Is there anything like this in Windows 2000, or do I have to log back out and in as the admin each time I wanna do something?

1) Hold down shift + right click the program icon.
2) Choose Run As
3) Select Administrator
Is the only way i know of!
But you'll still need the administrators password.
The best way would to make the User a PowerUser!

Windows ins't as breakable as Linux, so you'll be okay wiht running as the Admin all the time.

Not necessarily. You shouldn't run as Administrator anyway. Running as a separate user in the Administrators group can occasionally be tolerated.
The concept of separating privileges is why Unix is so much more secure than Windows...

That is why I wanted to know, to make it more secure. But if I can run as a user with admin rights, is that OK in terms of security, or still unsafe?

It's better than actually being Administrator, but it's not as good.
In the end, I had the compromise of being in the Power Users group, then using Run As Administrator if I needed it.
