Picture file formats

Hello,
I am new to disscution forums so please bear with me.
I am also new to VB. I have been studying it for a little less than a year in my spare time. Things are going pretty well, but I have a stumper about the difference between .jpg files and .bmp files with the vb picture box control .jpg files are slower than molasses when loading. on to the control.

The question: Is there a way to make them load faster? or a tool available to convert the format to .bmp? also to, I have a somewhat slowish computer 233mhz is this part of the problem?

Any hints would be greatly appreciated

I'm not sure of anything that can make them load faster. But you can use pretty much any (non-microsoft) graphics program to convert a jpeg to a bmp. Have a look around Download.com And serach for "Graphic Tools" or something like that.
