Check for ActiveSync than Save text to Mobile Device

I heard that if I want to program a Save Command in desktop, I have to check for ActiveSync for the connection between the desktop and mobile device before I can save the text from desktop to the mobile device..

Questions..
1) How do I check for ActiveSync?What are the values/pattern if both of them are connected

2) What is the full path to the mobile device?
