    I say "offen" but then, comming from Essex, we rarely pronounce 't's...
    Everything I say is either loose interpretation of dubious facts or idle speculation rooted in irrational sentiment.

    With my Llanelli accent, I've always pronounced it as "off-un"

    i've always said it as it reads: often
    Use
    writing software in C++ is like driving rivets into steel beam with a toothpick.
    writing haskell makes your life easier:
    reverse (p (6*9)) where p x|x==0=""|True=chr (48+z): p y where (y,z)=divMod x 13
    To throw away OOP for low level languages is myopia, to keep OOP is hyperopia. To throw away OOP for a high level language is insight.

    Q's evolution of "often":

    Off & On
    Offton (the "d" in "and" is relative to a "t")
    Ofton (Shortened)
    Often (Subsitute "o" for an "e" so we can say it faster & easier.)
    Offen (Slang because we are lazy to say it with the "t")
