    How do you make a line 3d and not flat??

    Make 2 lines, for example line 1 at (100,100) and line 2 (101,101). Now, make line 1 black and line 2 grey. This will give a nice 3d effect.

    Draw a grey one 1 pixel above/below/left/right of it.
