Browsing through your Foodie bits in galah last night - nice stuff, but wish I could post there at work - need to redress the balance on your "Food in London Pubs" piece

Well, it was Slaine slagging off pubs for serving food. I just pointed out that in the country, a lot of pub's survival depends on food (and therefore, it is usually good).
Perhaps out of ignorance, when I'm in London, I don't go to the pub for a good meal. I'm sure you may be able to prove me wrong there....
Everything I say is either loose interpretation of dubious facts or idle speculation rooted in irrational sentiment.

possibly, but generally I'm more clucky for the onrunning debates about it
I had a think about it though, and you may be right - the standard in London is not great for food in pubs...the pubs tend to be of the ilk as seen in "Shoreditch ****" - adid you see it on C4 last night?

No, I'm afraid I missed it.
Incidentally, on West Country television, there is a great series called "Taste of the West". A bunch of food critics go round pubs all over the west country and have a standard meal off the menu and score it at the end for things like quality and value for money.
It's a great series and a great way to find out about all the best pubs in the region. It's a shame that you can't see it up there...
Here's the link if you're interested.
