Noisy Harddisk!
Hey Guys!
I have just got a new computer with an IBM Hard Disk, it's 7200 RPM, is this why it produces this high-pitch noise all the time? Is there any option I can change to lower its revolving speed or something because I can't withstand this voice anymore!
Please help!

Cover your computer with a few nice thick blankets. That should shut it up nicely.

Run the IBM Drive Fitness Test on it. Sounds like a bad drive to me, if it's notably loud.
I have had a 60GXP and a 120GXP and neither has been noisy. What model is this drive?
I'm bringing geeky back...

I don't know about bad - my mom had a bad hard drive, and it wasn't loud - it just did funny things like saying that drive C is full. LOL should've known.

Is the drive sitting flush against the case at all? Or anything else that might vibrate noisily.
We don't know what's wrong. . . So the best bet might be to remove something surgically.
