    microsoft word is from satan

don't know WHY but something that looks like a backwards bracket has appeared on the top and bottom of this document. Look on this document at the link below - I am referring to the object that appears just to the right of my picture (and in 3 other places). What is this and how do I make it go away?

I'm having issues with geocities, so right-click on this link and hit "save target as" since left-clicking sometimes generates an error:

I just scanned this bad boy, so there are no viruses. Somebody help?

you should post a screenshot instead of the document. since it probably (haven't tried) won't be displayed correctly in KOffice / OpenOffice

Okay. Try this screen shot. Again, do the right-click-and download thing:

    1) Go to www.download.com
    2) Find a BMP to GIF or JPG converter
    3) Convert your image to GIF or JPG
    4) Upload the image again
    5) Post the new URL to the GIF or JPG image

Yeah...2.25mb is too much for me to download on my dialup right now. I don't want to wait that much time.

Perhaps someone with a high speed connection can help you.

Lesson #2831: Never ever ever post an image on geocities and link to it.

OK, when you're in your MS word window, press ALT+PrintScreen
Then, go to your image editing software, compress it, and then post it. If you don't have an image editing software, at least snip out the relevant portions in MS Paint and upload them here.

I assume you are talking about the half square things, they probably have something to do with margins and you can probbaly only see them on your computer, Check through all settings you changed recently.

They should have no effect on printing if thats what your worried about!!!!!!

I'd call them crop marks. They Visually define the active region of your document, and if you printed the document out, they would indicate that the document should be trimmed on those lines.

Normally, they should NOT extend together, they should be seperated from the live area by an eighth of an inch or more.

Somewhere, there should be a default that you can turn off.

Let me look and I'll see if I can find it in my version of word.

    {I never knew word had that!}
