Delphi
Is there a good reason why rhere isn't a forum for Pascal/Delphi? I would like to see one added the other languages section.

Because Pascal is a toy language, originally designed for teaching programming skills.
It's almost useless outside of any kind of educational establishment.
Ok, so that's not the reason why it's not here, but it's a good reason why it shouldn't be here

Well, Delphi creates programs that don't require runtime-it is object-orientated. I actually need to post some questions about delphi. Fact-Delphi can create database and web aware apps. Pascal- first borland ver to suopport oo -5.5. Psrkskie, don't you know tat Delphi is a mature development suite? Well, there's forums forf c++-so ciould martinliss add a delphi foprum? I'd PM him first.

Delphi is mature, and I have no doubts that it can be very useful.
My beef is with the underlying language, I'm afraid.
That said, I have problems with VB as well, which is why I don't use it either
PS: Delphi requires runtime support. VB requires it. C requires it.
Most languages do, it's just whether they're intelligent about whether you have it internel or external that's the important part.

Surprisingly, no, I don't have many problems with C#. In fact I quite like it. It takes features from a lot of other languages (mostly C++ and Java) and rips out a few of the nasties (like pointers).
Although, I will miss the efficiency that comes with doing everything yourself.
My original problem was that .NET was Windows only, but Mono seems to be dealing with that quite nicely. We will see if it works, I'm sure
Other people have given more in-depth treatment of it, so I won't keep rabbitting on

Well, I would like to get help on Delphi-but since there is no forum here-and I don't think thast many other forums would cater for Delphi users. If a delphi wqas added, I could ask about what I need help in Delphi?

I do agree that Delphi would be a good topic to add in.
All contents of the above post that aren't somebody elses are mine, not the property of some media corporation.
(Just a heads-up)
