http://www.crystaldecisions.com/prod...l_download.asp
Please download Crystal 9.0 (30 day trial edition) and tell me if it supports more than 254 characters for stored procedure paramter. (If possible find out how many characters it can take.)
It is 411 Mb size. But I have only dial up connection.
Appreciate your help and research for me.

lol.. no offense.. but you will be lucky if you get someone to download a 400 meg file.. install it on their PC.. just to tell you one thing... why not just email seagate and ask them?

It does.... depending on the db driver you are using.
We found that using the SQL Server native driver limited strings (in and out) to 255.
When we switched to the OLE DB driver for SQL Server, we could get the entire lengths of our strings safely (all 8000 characters).

Thanks a lot for spending your precious time for me.
Is the length based on Driver? Will it work even in CR 8.5? (I will try this task). But I found in CR 8.5 documentation somewhere that it can allow only 254 characters.
I am currently using "SQL Server" Driver for my VB Application. So should I Use OLE DB driver in future? Has anyone faced any problems with that driver?
Thanks again.

I have already emailed them. But no reply. They don't have a good support in my experience. Even their help files are not having good documentation (Including online documentation).

Crystal Support
For support with Crystal, your version has to be registered. In my experince, they have one of the best support centers ive had to deal with.

That's right, and if your put on hold you can choose the crappy music - it gives you a menu, while your waiting, press 1 for rock music, 2 for classical etc, fantastic !!!
