3rd party control
Greetings,
Anyone who has been reading some of my posts lately can rightfully deduce that I am a paranoid regarding 3rd party controls, licenses, etc. and that I think they should be permanently banned off the face of the earth for all of the inconvence they cause us innocent programmers who get assigned to debug some shmo's old application.
Along those lines, I need assurance on something:
Firstly, our client has the necessary 3rd party components already, one of which is a Far Point vaSpread.
When I was loading the source code to make some modifications, I got a message saying "Hey, you need a Far Point license." So I dig out the Far Point licnese and load the source code again. then I get "Hey this is a 30-day trial for Far Point, do you agree?". So I say "Yes".
My question is:
Will this 30-day license agreement affect in any way the executable I create for the client, after 30 days? Or should they be in good shape since they're already set with the install and just getting a new exe from me?
Since the program is for like 200 people, and they have an important audit coming up, I don't want to take any chances.
Thank you,
Jim

A-FREAKING-MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now that I have that out of my system, you ask
Will this 30-day license agreement affect in any way the executable I create for the client, after 30 days?
More than likely "YES". I use "more than likely" only as a disclaimer. FarPoint has been selling components for years, and I'm sure their component software is capable of reading license files.
I once waltzed into a job in which I was handed code written by someone else that used a wide variety of Sheridan controls. The CD containing the Sheridan controls was "missing". I discovered that the controls being used were the "30 day trial" period controls.
I wound up having to do a major rewrite using standard VB controls because I could'nt roll out the existing app. The controls were available for "design" only. I could'nt compile my .Exe
Can you?

Your client should have purchased a license for those components. If they haven't then get them to do so.
Install the licensed copy on your PC then compile the exe.
