looking for music lovers with full albums to test my app!
Hi, I'm looking for people who will test out my new program and tell me what they think of it. it is really a deluxe front end to winamp but you would not know it by looking at it.
A lot of people have helped me on this forum to make it all possible.
The app is called PartyTime Jukebox and I've spent almost a year on it now! All u need is some album covers to go with your album folders and your set.
BTW it is a fully functional demo and is free unless you intend to use it commercially
Some of it's neat featurs are:
* Headphones monitoring if u have more than 1 soundcard.
* Touch screen ready (for customers in public places)
* Built in search engine
* Two separate usage mode for business environment
* One personal mode (home use FREE)
* Display all your albums to screen (when music is stopped)
* Playlist Saving and Loading capability
* Generates and saves entire list of your collection automatically
and more...
Please send any comments/suggestions/bugs to my email at [email protected]
Thanks!
When i first run it, i get asked where my music is. When i select the my my music folder (which has loads of albums in it btw) i get runtime error 76, file not found.
This is after i told it they were wma, b4 that, it just didt detect any music but didt crash.

It is true that the first time you run the program it will pick .MP3 as the default music file extension but then u can change this right away by going to the control panel, close and restart the application. Which is probably what u did so... I'm trying to simulate what you did and I cannot get an error...
Could you tell me the build you downloaded and installed?
I had to fix recently a bug regarding files that were stored on the root of a drive verses inside folders.
Latest build # is 30
Did u come up with any other bugs or annoyances?
Thanks in advance
Its version 1.5.0.30. I tryed uninstalling and reinstalling and trying from scratch, with selecting folder, changing it to .wma's, exiting and reloading. Same error. I have other files in the sub directorys of that directory, eg .docs. .pdfs, and files that windows creates like thumbs.db. As for the annoyences question, its a bit annoying that it leaves winamp open when you exit or crash.

OK... latest version is 1.5.32 and I did improve on a few things, like it does save the path that you point to now every time you build or rebuild a new collection even if it doesn’t find any albums in that particular collection/path.
I did realize that some people such as in your case, will want to set to a different file extension than mp3 right off the bat (first time it runs). I'm hoping to eventually make it so you can change extension on the fly and rebuild without having to restart the app but I'll have to work a bit harder to achieve this...
The other thing I did was to introduce a few more error trapping procedures at load time, but I still am puzzled as to why you are getting the error.
I mean I tried to make it so bullet proof that even if you were to delete the "application.ini" file the app would still load no problem.
I really appreciate your help on this and if you still have time you could install version 1.5.32 and try it again if still no go then tell me this:
1- where is winamp.exe installed on your machine?
2- do you also have winamp.m3u inside that same folder?
3- which windows are you running it on?
4- is the path shown in the error message, the path to your master folder or the path to one of the sub folders located inside that one?
If all fails try manually typing in the path of your master folder inside the Application.ini file on (ROOT_FOLDER=type the path here) and see if that solved the problem.
As for the reason I did not want to close winamp when exiting is simple...
If you were to have hundreds of people dancing away and that for some reason you would want to exit the app, I think you'd probably be majorly p****d off you just shut down winamp
I'm a DJ and I know s**t like happening is NEVER EVER a good thing. Much safer to just close it when you absolutely don't need it no more
Even minimizing the app is not an option that I am willing to consider at this time, for added safety mesures.
I've used my app many times over in weddings and such and did not have it crashed on me once, though I've always used the same file extensions and master folder.
I’d like to see it crash proof though even if that’s the last thing I ever do
I installed version 1.5.0.33, and it still doest work, but its a different error now. It starts the same, i select the directory, doest find anything, i change it to .wms's, exit and resart and then i get the error in the attached screenshot. I restart, and its back to mp3 as the association, and not detecting anything.
1: C:\Program Files\Winamp
2: yes
3: XP Prof
4: dont get a path in the error since installing the new version.
One other bug btw, it won't load if winamp is already open.

OK, there might be hope yet...
Going by your screen capture and what you've mentioned it is telling me that the problem is occurring in the main form's load event on a specific line.
I know this would seem obvious to most people but it really isn’t, that's why your screen capture is such a big help here
Anyway I think I've narrowed it down to a sub calling an API that may not be XP Pro compatible.
I do not have XP Pro installed at this time but I have tested the app with pro before and it work fine , then I realized that I had changed the Shell command for loading winamp with a ShellAndWait Sub I found here on the forum since I last tested it on pro.
I was using the Sub to make the app wait ‘til winamp was loaded before continuing on with the loading.
Well I've revert back using Shell and tested it on my system and the shell command works just fine. Obviously something I should have never done. Stupid of me
I have recompiled and uploaded the setup file again if you would like to try it now.
I'm really hoping that this will solve it because this is without a doubt my biggest concern at this time.
Thanks for your big help in trying to solve this.

Sorry RedRum for this long delay in replying but I was called off for a whole week and could not repply. I have had during that time 3 people running xp try out my app, one of them which I actually went over to his place to try it out myself and none of them were having any problems with it. One was on a XP family edition and the other 2 were xp Pro so this error has got to be something uniquely caused by your system!
Maybe corrupt system files? This is just a shot in the dark... I just don't know what else to tell you here beside maybe try installing it on a different XP Pro machine with full administrator rights?
