creating asp pages on a stand alone machine

I am trying to use vb.net to create asp pages on a laptop that is not networked and uses XP as the OS. I keep getting error messages because vb.net does not recognize whatever XP uses as a personal web server. Please help!

    XP what? Home? Professional?

    Home doesnt have it.
Professional, you have to install it from Add/Remove programs.

OS is professional. I had done the installation as you mentioned, but I still get the error message that it can not find the service. My boss, who is the sysadmin, is drawing blanks. I will have the machine with me tomorrow and can give the exact error message to anyone who wants a challange.
