I use Macromedia HomeSite5.0 - and there is the best i've ever see: he check EVERY of your mistake, help you with tags, use different colors for PHP, scripts, html tags. After him i can not use a notepad...

I use HTML-Kit. It's free and it has so many features, probably not the best PHP editor, but it's a great all rounder.

Edit++ is a great multi-purpose editor, but especially good for HTML/PHP. Not free though.
I also expect Dreamweaver MX to be very good.

notpad for me, well ConText which is a colorful notepad.
Zend isn't really an editor but a IDE like Visual Basic. that is worth the money as far as I am concerned.
for people that write code in a eidtor like homesite and they say it corrects all there errors. well that way you don't learn and you are also relying on a program that can make errors to fix your errors.
