True. The opinion of people here is that FTP sites are good if they're fairly fast, but you need to have a "web" of people...one person has an FTP site, with plenty of people uploading stuff onto it that all can share, without worrying about freeloaders.

I much prefer to exchange addresses with someone and upload nothing, and if they want something they get it from me. Same idea except less time spent on my part, and I won't send them anything they don't need (or vice versa). 
But yes, FTP is only for the well connected. I like DC++ since it's a good medium, since you can meet and trade with people that you don't know.
I'm bringing geeky back...
