    does anyone know how to make a person on my
    webpage download a file to their desktop
    without them knowing?

    the security model allows you to do sh*& with the guys files and his computer.

    If you want to have access to his data you need to make use of what is called "HTML applications". (html document with file extension .hta)

    If you are a subscriber to the MSDN library you can check out this reference by typing the following into the index.
