scroll in IDE
How come on some computers/OSs you can scroll in the IDE (code area) and on some others you can't. I downloaded the newest mouse drivers from HP for our 2k machines here.. and it enabled the mouse scroll to work.. but at home on my XP Pro machine.. it doesn't work.. and I am using just the standard HP optical mouse that came with my comp.. and there are no updated drivers or anything like that on their site for it.

use the latest M$ intellipoint drivers - they work for all mice, and not too surpisingly work better with M$ software...

Don't know - but that's always driven me nuts as I use the wheel all the time in other apps. If you find something...

In the control panel mouse options, there is an extended dialog for Intellimouse, in the last tab there is a troubleshooter which may help. Failing that, it might help to install the latest service pack for VB6, as it will replace any dodgy old DLL's..

i have SP5 for Visual Studio 6. XP Pro SP1, and I installed the intellipoint 4.x whatever version drivers from MS... when I install them it asks what type of mouse I have.. this is the only section I think I may not be selecting the right thing??? I chose just regular optical mouse and uninstalled/reinstalled and picked intellimouse optical mouse and still no go.. works on everything else.. but not the VB IDE

ok... the only idea I have left is re-installing DirectX - it tends to fix things a bit after any devices have had new drivers installed.

lol, I'm just using a plain old mouse, clicking both buttons at the same time to start the scrolling.
I'm using a Alps driver which came with XP.
That help?

this is an old thread... that i started so i can bring it back damnit!
well anyway i finally found drivers that would allow for IDE scrolling in all the mice that i tried...
I first tried a few different versions of Microsofts mouse drivers and nothing ever worked.. but i went and got logitechs mouse drivers I think it is MouseWare 7.5 and it worked perfectly... (you can DL it from their site)
so if anyone has tried all to get scrolling in the VB IDE with no luck.. these drivers should do the trick for ya..

I am glad you brought this up. I have never been able to scroll in the VB IDE. I thought you just couldn't. I went here http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouse/download.asp to download the latest intellipoint driver, and it worked.

not being able to scroll in the IDE sucks... it is so hard to navigate through code...
well anyways.. i DLed the MS drivers before as well.. but they didn't work for my mouse (i have a few different ones i tried) but logitechs drivers worked for me.. so i guess either MS or Logitechs.. one is bound to work if the other does not!
