I have 2 computers on my home network. I recently upgraded one from Windows 98 to 2k Pro. When I try to access the Win98 computer from the W2k computer, it works fine....but when I try to get to the W2k box through the Win98 box, it asks me for a password. How do I turn off this, so that I can access the Win2k box without needing a password? (I don't know the password)
I tried that, it won't accept my password. I tried both Win2k admin password and my Win98 password, but neither work. The dialog that pops up asks me for a password to access the resource by, the resource being '\\Pii300\IPC$', whatever the IPC$ stands for
I've attached a screen shot of the dialog that pops up

Have you tried putting nothing(blank) in the box?
IPC$ is the share!
Try the following:
1) Make sure both are apart of the same workgroup\domain this can be checked my Right-Clicking MY COmputer then choosing properties then network ID!
control panel > users and passwords
advanced tab
advanced button
expand the user folder
right click on the guest entry and go to properties
uncheck acount is disabled
Make a user account on the W2K box with the same user name Win98 auto logs on as.
