Generic 2D Game Engine in C++ (**CANCELLED**)

I know alot of you are thinking, this has been done before, true, but not by me!!! Well actually, yes by me too but it looked like crap and it was very hard for people besides me to use.

I wanna make the engine as generic as possible. If you are upto this, reply or pm or whatever, use one of the usual channels to contact me and let me know which part you will undertake.

I will soon post a list of "parts" that people can work on.

I changed my mind about this and am now working on a 3D project on a free engine called OGRE -- if you wanna help, just contact me thru the usual channels --errm, i mean email me or pm me, i will delete this thread on Friday

Alright, heres my question about implementation (c++ programming involved here), should I make the Engine class based or function based? What im trying to say is...

should I make a bigger version of "ddutil" or a completely OO game engine? I am doing the OO aproach unless someone convinces me that its not the way to go.

Also, I will upload a "skeleton" or starting point for all who wish to help. I am thinking of a virtual base class that will have all of the "common" methods and pure virtual functions.

Anyone who wants to help, this will be a good time to say something

    [EDIT]
BTW: The Game Engine will be a statically linked library, with all of the code and definitions completely seperate. Also, all directx or system specific libraries will be loaded via pragma preprocessors (if possible).
