    Start -> Run -> RegEdit

    Go into the keys, find Software -> Microsoft -> Windows -> Run/RunOnce/RunOnceEx (there are several of these chains). There you can see what "services" startup with Windows.
    All contents of the above post that aren't somebody elses are mine, not the property of some media corporation.
    (Just a heads-up)

    Go into Start | Programs | Admin Tools | Services

    There are several server-related services you do not need.

    Search the web.

    Regedit??

    Run -> msconfig

    It lists all programs that run on startup. Just make sure you don't uncheck something that you might need. (Like Internet Connection sharing )

    Theres a list out on the net somewhere that explains every possible item that could appear in there, and whether or not its safe to remove.

    Just stuff for lazy/dumb people.

    I prefer the manual way, always.

    Grow up and stop with the rude comments. If you like doing it the manual way then maybe you should switch to *nix.

    The freedom isn't worth the loss in compatibility.

    Damn monopolies.
