    DirectX gets closer to the hardware than VB does, hence it's much faster than any other API function. To integrate DirectX with VB, you need a type library (which can be downloaded from Microsoft's website).

    the VB dll (its not a .tlb, its an .dll) comes with the normal DX7 download by the way, you dont have to get anything but DX7. Although you should get the docs, as they're v useful

    Uh, but I just installed DirectX7 and the type library was already there. Oh wait, you just said that... Never mind.
