    Fun/humor with etymology and/or oxymorons.

I recently encountered the following interesting bit of etymology.
Politics. From the Greek poly meaning many and Anglo Saxon tics meaning blood sucking parasites.
Military intelligence is one of the first oxymorons I have encountered.

Can anybody here supply more like the above?
    Live long & prosper.

The Dinosaur from prehistoric era prior to computers.

    Eschew obfuscation!
If a billion people believe a foolish idea, it is still a foolish idea!

    64Bit & 32Bit Windows 7 & Windows XP. I run 4 operating systems on a single PC.

Erm, well...I don't want to spark off a whole big whoha here, but Britain didn't allow two planes to be hijacked and flown into two buildings.
When British Intelligence are warned something might happen, they act, they don't wait til it's too late.

Well if you're gonna be that ****ing pedantic, what he said was entirely correct, in that american intelligence DID let TWO planes crash into TWO buildings, but it also let another TWO planes crash into another building and a field. So nothing he said was wrong. Incidentally I don't see you rushing to defend your intelligence agencies...

Why do you drive on a FREEWAY and park on a DRIVEWAY?

What about the spies in America?
They're everywhere, not just Britain and not just during ww2.
And let's not get started on the whole America and ww2 business.

Why is Dyslexia such a hard word to spell?
Why is Abbreviation such a long word?
Why do we need a tiny noughts and crosses board on the keyboard? (#)
Why do we call this key '*' the star key when it looks nothing like a star? (surely it should be the 'snowflake' key?)
Who was the 30th person to eat 'Chinese Devil Fish' after watching the first 29 people die? (with the thought that maybe, just maybe their's still some edible bit on there)

For e.g. Britain was bombed so many times in the WW II, but I have never heard Germans being looked upon as possible suspects in Britain Or more recently, I don't think the Irish people are arrested on suspicion and imprisoned for a year or so, even during the IRA militancy

    .
I think other countries can handle it better because they know they're not not invincible. No offence to the American people, but if *******s like George Bush didn't think they were so great, then the terrorist attacks might not have happened. At least, they might have been stopped before any damage was done.

In Britain we take terrorist threats and bomb alerts seriously. If the authorites are warned of an attack or bomb then the area is imediately evacuated, even if they think it might be a hoax.
America was warned of the attacks, but didn't take it seriously and unfortunately paid the price. Hopefully it's a lesson learnt and it won't happen again.

I'm sorry if any Americans here think I'm being harsh, but I live in Northern Ireland.

OK, I've said my bit, I'm done now, and I'm off to work.
