That's a problem ya got there, as Nero burns in about 3 or 4 mins on my 24x.

What make/model is your burner? Latest firmware? Reinstalled Nero?

There's Easy CD Creator, but that's been proven slower (I read a review in Maximum PC...the Plextor 40x equipped with EZCD was slower than the Liteon 32x equipped with Nero. Once they put Nero on the Plexy it set a new speed record and beat both of the scores.)

Sounds like more of a config problem to me.
