    Accounting Templates

We are a small MS systems house in North West England looking for a partner who will provide us with accounting software templates in VB/VBA source code format for MS SQL server which we can develop and resell on to our diverse user base. Must be multi company, multi currency, EU complant, and preferably have been audited/independently tested.

I was wondering if anyone had any reccomendations?

Appologies if this post is inappropriate.

    Thanks

    Brian Mahoney

    Hi Brian,

This thread has been moved into Project Requests, as that'd pretty much so what that forum is for.
You'd probably have better luck there anyway

    Kind Regards,
    Jamie.

you may want to check out rentacoder.com or itmoonlighter.com

you could post what you want there and see if anyone is up to the task... unless you are looking for this for free.. in which case i wish you the best of luck

    What are accounting software templates?
Are you intending to pay for these, if so how much?
I am sure there are many programmers here that would jump at the chance, myself included.
Where abouts are you based? Near Lancaster?
I am situated in Durham, well just south of there, Scotch Corner to be exact.

Sorry, maybe I should have been more clear.

What we want is an off the shelf accountancy package, we need access to the source code so that we can tailor it to a customers specific requirements.

We are wishing to pay for this.

Errr...don't think that is ever going to happen Sorry.
No "off the shelf" package will ever come with source code, maybe the odd exception. The cost to make these packages costs hundreds of thousands of pounds...I very much doubt that a company will just give you the source code.
They will also, no doubt, encrypt their data so that you can't "add on" other projects for customisation as they won't be able to read/write the data...

If you went to a software house, which is where I worked for my previous job, and asked them to write you an accountancy package then this would cost easily 10K + Then, in this case, you may get the source code, but only if it's in the contract. Bespoke software is VERY expensive...

So far I have found one package," Accounting office", i think , that offers the customisable source code to a UK based accounting package. Not convinced that it is the right solution for us though.

Found it...the basic package allows you to write macros in VBA, this isn't that much use, but can be handy.
The enterprise package on the other hand is slightly different:
For larger organisations, whose processes need to be backed up by bespoke systems, Accounting Office provides an environment which allows you to redesign any part of the front end. The Enterprise Development Toolkit (EDK), delivers the Visual Basic source code of the user interface in the form of a VB project.
The main problem here is "For large organisations"...Hehe.
You will only get the UI code, which can be useful, but this won't let you change the functionality of the application. This just means you can display data, to the user, in a different way.
One good thing, is that it uses SQL Server. This means that you can get a VB/C+ developer to write a bespoke program, which uses the data in the database...Now that is handy.
Oh, by the way, you will pay, I imagine, a damn site more for having the source code for the UI.

    Regards,

    Woka
