How do I post the code snippets

I have noticed people posting code in neat arrangements in the middle of their posts. How do I do this?

I thought it was

[ vbcode]

[ /vbcode]

(without spaces)

I wish someone would tell me how to do it so that shows the tags, instead of the formatted text.

When I posted that above i used &111; for the o character
