an IE question

This was asked by someone else and I didn't have an answer but was curious...

I don't know any more info than what is written in the following text (no idea what version of anything)

During one of my weak moments, I let my son use my computer and he downloaded a bunch of stuff and blah, blah, blah. I noticed after he used it that each time IE can't find a web site it goes to this advertising web page automatically.

How can I stop this? It's driving me crazy - whenever I encounter a dead link it just automatically take me to the ad site.

I've spent a lot of time poking around to fix the problem, but I'm clueless.

Download Ad-aware from here. It remove almost all adware...very good.

i'd like to know were this is written in the registry (i'm guessing that's were it's written) so I can delete it myself.

there was a huge thread on this before, i suggest searching for it. I posted the reg location and the right values for the variables.
