Windows98 minimal configuration
Hi kids.
I installed Windows98SE on an embedded PC. Problem is the size: I installed it using a hard disc of 800Megs and know I'm cleaning everything up, because I must use CompactFlash cards from 128Megs to 192Megs.
Anybody knows which files I can delete without having trouble?
(except Internet Explorer).
I already deleted till now: (result: 176Megs instead of 234Megs)
* help files (.hlp, .chm)
* netmeeting
* text files (.txt)
* .wav, .bmp files
* java classes directory
I want more free diskspace...

err...be a damn sight easier to get a larger harddrive if your motherboard supports it
They cost next to nothing

You can get a 10 gig hard drive for like $30 bucks... or less. Why are you struggling with such a small drive?

Monday Morning Lunatic
It's embedded, remember!
Problem is the size: I installed it using a hard disc of 800Megs and know I'm cleaning everything up, because I must use CompactFlash cards from 128Megs to 192Megs.
I refuse to tie my hands behind my back and hear somebody say "Bend Over, Boy, Because You Have It Coming To You".

EMBEDDED!
I really must use compact flash cards, which are mor eexpensive than regular hard drives.
I have some 20MB free space yet from a CF of 192MB, Windows98SE installed with VB6 & MS Jet 3.5 DLL files

What are you doing with an embedded computer? Maybe if you make the program in C++ you won't need the VB DLL files and you can save a few megs...

They are industrial computers, built inside the walls of a house.
They are all connectected to our RS485 domotics bus and also with TCP/IP ==> impossible to build a complete PC into a wall...
These computers do have a 800x600 TFT with touchscreen ; the meaning is to manipulate a domotics system with some simple touches onto the screen (using a VB6 application).
I still need more space...

Compression makes the whole thing very slow. It's only a pentium 180MHz.
