Yes it will. What you should do is get Jethro up in ceiling and have him drop wires all over the house and put in receptacles. Then you can just plug your speakers into the walls whenever you want them somewhere else - like for a party or something. You never need to move your stereo at all since all the cables will feed back to it. You'll probably need a speaker switch, actually but it's still tons easier once it's in place.

If you have a newer (expensive) system it will have fibre optic connections on the back. No sound interference.

If (when ) I get my hi-fi system for wherever I am, I'd probably have a separate DAC and run everything else digitally for maximum quality.

I have a fair few, over a thousand. I stopped downloading them pretty much altogether since Napster closed. Most of my CD collection is stuff I bought after I heard the MP3s.... so I don't buy many CDs any more.

If space is a problem, you might consider using Ogg Vorbis format instead of mp3. MP3 is getting pretty old now, and a lot of advances have been made that make OGG a more efficient format to store music in. It's also totally free; I think the MPEG people charge license fees for the algorithms that write to MP3 format.

Was just going to mention ogg - and aac, for that matter. Aac is supposed to be virtually lossless at 128kbps and listening tests have proven this (as have many others, but just for reference I can't stand anything < 192kbps Mp3). So, if you've got MSVC++, I suggest you go to http://faac.sourceforge.net/, pick up the faac sources, and compile them. Then get the in_aac plugin for WinAmp and you're in business (note, my celeron 533 couldn't do aac at the same time as worldcraft without skipping. so you'll need a good comp).
All contents of the above post that aren't somebody elses are mine, not the property of some media corporation.

score one for the sharing-MP3s-doesn't-harm-CD-sales argument
