So Simon....
Is J4U giving you satisfactory answers? I'm curious because I know you like to delve deeply into things and J4U is just the opposite. How do you feel about his answers to your questions?

I feel they are stupid, baseless nonsense with not even a shred of logic behind any 'proof' he uses to support his claims.

Thanks Simon. I expected something a little more philosophical, but I guess that answers my question.

Who are you talking to?
I popped in there and asked him how he could convince me that what he believed was the absolute truth? How could I know it for what he claimed it was?
He said he would go away and think about it which, I guess, is a step in the right direction.
Everything I say is either loose interpretation of dubious facts or idle speculation rooted in irrational sentiment.

Except all he really did was go away and find a completely irrelevant piece of scripture.

The question was for you, but RJ decided to answer in your stead. I wondered about his statement to which your question was pointed. He said something along the lines of, "Jesus is truth." I thought your question was kind of "restrained" to say the least. Normally I would have expected you to jump all over a statement like that.
Anyway, I read a few more of the posts and left. But I was just wondering if you were actually going to "discuss" this with him or give up since he tends to not actually answer anyone's questions.

Well, when he told us about his new forum, I was sceptical that he would actually listen and engage people in proper discussion. I pointed out that to him and he said that people could change.
Therefore, I decided to give him a chance.
Unfortunately, I have not had much time to fully read and participate in many discussions over there but that will change next week..

Well, we've been there many times before. I wanted to tackle it in a different way. Not dismiss his statement out of hand but give him a chance to demonstrate why his belief was, not only the truth, but could be seen to be the truth by others.
The thread then went on to a different discussion and I have not read far enough through the rest of the thread to find out if he ever got back to me.

Well if anything earth shattering happens like J4U suddenly becomes reasonable, please let us know. Anyway, I'm impressed with how you've done so far. I may go back and check in just to see how it goes.

Well, so much for J4U's forum.
Despite it apparently being the place to come in and debate with him, he's hardly ever there and contributes very little. When he does, it seems to be in his usual style of not directly responding to you but spitting out general quotes. I also get the impression that he is barely reading, if attall, questions and statements put to him.
What is it they say about a lepoard never changing it's spots?

It is all rather pointless. It gets boring listening to them twist the meaning of their scriptures just to justfy themselves.
The only sensible discusions that take place seem to be between the non-believers.
Don't think I will stick around for long.

Please answer the questions to this hypothetical situation using a brief statement. Note: Names used here are purely coincidental in the fact that they happen to be the same names used elsewhere in this thread.
Simon comments on the fact that J4U doesn't seem to be keeping up with the topics nor does he seem to be responding to what is being said.
Slaine says that the debates are pretty much a lot of bible quotes and some well stated points made by others who don't go along with the whole bible scripture thing. He also makes the off-hand remark about lack of e-mail notification.
1) Of all these comments, which would you consider to be the most relevent to the topic at hand and to any debate that is worth engaging in?
2) Which is the least relevent?
3) For extra credit, which of the above did J4U choose to answer? Which did he choose to ignore? Why do you believe J4U made the choices he did?

Being one of the people in your "hypothetical" example, I presume that your questions are not for me?

Simon - Your name happening to be in my hypothetical question is purely coincidental as are any remarks that may be similar to any remarks that you have made at any time in the past.
However, I would very much like to hear your answers to any or all of the questions posed.
