I used to be registered with the username "matthewralston" and had just under 700 posts I think. It would be nice to get it back.

The this thread was started by me using my old username (with a very old signature!! ):

That sounds like it's asking a bit much, but I was always told that if you don't ask, you don't get.

Because I used to be a regular (v.regular, look at the reply stats in Post Race for instance) and I neglected this place since my un was never sorted.

The database was corrupted before Jupitermedia took over this site. My understanding is that a lot of posts were lost from the forums. We never received the old database and therefore have no way of retrieving those posts.

On a positive, we do regular backups. I'm not sure why previous owners didn't do regular backups. Maybe they did and they were all corrupt too. I don't know, I wasn't here to know the exact details of what happened. There have been stories.....



As to fixing post counts, For a number of people, we manually set posts counts. Although it has been well over a year since anyone has brought this up, if one of the existing moderators vouches for a person and the number of posts, then I will consider making a change.

You should note that there are a few processes that if ever executed will cause post counts to be updated to reflect what is actually in the database. I've been avoiding these processes.

It's unfortunate that my account has not been restored. Due to my work schedule I do not get to post here often, but I have been coming here since early 1999 with this username.

Could an admin set my registration date back to where I had it before the crash of 02? 275 posts, registered in April 1999.
