Does a Pentium 133 need a heatsink or fan?

Does a Pentium 133 need a heatsink or a fan? I bought a MB/CPU/RAM combo off of ebay for US$0.99 and I'm not sure if it'll come with one.

Yeah I think it does. I had a Cyrix 166 and my friend had a Pentium 133 and I think they both needed fans.

I think all pentium class processors need fans... I know a pent 75 will get so hot it will burn your fingers badly after running a few mins (wasnt thinking one day) so I would imagine that it would heat up the board & components pretty quick.

so fan. yes heatsink. The retail pentiums come with a heatsink. I dont even know if there is a way to get it off...

You'll need a heatsink, but probably not a fan. I have a Celeron 500 which runs passive..

I found some old docs on Intel's site - they do need some kind of external cooling. If it doesn't come with anything, I'll try running it with just a heatsink.

Now, to find a AT case for it...

Heatsink yes, fan no. As long as air is moving well inside the case (or if the processor is near the rear fan or power supply fan), it should be fine. I personally hate those little fans, high-pitched annoyance. I just got a new machine that definitely needs fans, it has eight, including two small ones (video card and processor). It's not too loud, it's just got that high-pitched squeal that makes me want to kick the thing until it shuts up. But that would be bad, so I just take my pills and go to bed. What was your question?

Little fans are awful because they push so little air with so much noise.

That's why I've equipped my entire computer aside from the chipset fan and video card, with 80mm fans.

get a baybus and turn those fans on and off whether or not you need them that way its not noisy all the time.

All of my fans are large except the processor and video card ones, nothing I can do about that. And while I might be able to rig the processor fan up to the mobo to let to slow down when possible, I can't do anything about the video card fan, which I think is the smaller and louder one anyway. Besides, the system runs pretty hot, so those fans would be up to full speed in no time. I could heat my whole house with this computer, too bad it's 110 outside today. So I guess I just have to put up with the SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAALLLL!

What video card and what cooling fan do you have on your processor?

You can always get a Thermalright AX-7 for Athlons, or a Thermalright AX-478 for P4s, and put a quiet 80mm fan on it.

As for the video card, not a whole lot you can do about that...

I have a Pentium 75 which has only a Heatsink... well I think it does anyways... where abouts would I find the fan(if there is one)???

all of you fanatic users are spoiled and babies... so it does a little squeal... let's cry cuz of it. suck it up and deal with it, and if you don't like them, give them to me!
i don't know what i'll do with those fans, but i'll find something.

hmm spoilt. I earned every penny of the cost of my computer, if i want to replace the fans it isn't my parents buying them, it is me. Why should you care what we do with our own money. Some of us leave our computers on all night when we sleep 5 feet away from the tower. I don't want a 99999999999999 rpm fan breaking the glass in my window and keeping me awake when i have to work the next morning. Larger fans are more efficiant larger = more air pushed though @ lower rpm = quiter. If you had the choice between a winey little 40mm fan and a quite but better 80mm fan which would you choose? if you like loud fans get yourself a delta. we are merely stating that we don't like loud fans and given the choice opt for the larger diameter fan to reduce noise.

Pfft, its abit of noise, big deal. Who cares how loud it gets?? As long as it gets the job done, then its an alright comp by me.
