Hacking System Recovery CD?
Ok, here's my situation. A while back I formatted the HD on my HP 750 Athlon system so I could upgrade from Win 98. I did a clean full install of Win XP Home. I didn't really care about the bundle software, but I ran into one major problem. I lost my damn dvd filters! So my DVD drive is basically a cd-rom drive now. Anyone know of a way to trick the Software Recovery CD into thinking I'm still running the original configuration? I mean, I'm not trying to STEAL any software or anything. It's rightfully mine since it came on my system originally. I just updated my version of windows. I'd like to have my Win DVD again, but will settle for just the DVD filters. Anyone got any ideas? I just can't justify going out and paying like $50 for a program I technically already OWN. Any help appreciated.

speak to the original hardware/software vendor. There should be some record of your transaction. Worst case scenario is that you have to pay for it, but it won't be top-whack if the salesman's prepared to give it away to make a sale...
If tomorrow never shows
I want you all to know
that I loved you all
You're beautiful
And I had myself a ball
I've wasted so much precious time
I've been skating along these fine lines
Now these weeds have grown where the sun once shown
and my life has passed me by...
