    DirectPlay

I would like to use Directplay instead of winsock to create a network game, as i heard that directplay handles network gaming better.

I have tried to look for online resources which offer tutorials or help on directplay, does anyone out there know of any good links which can help me? i have no knowledge on directplay, so i need a good tutorial or article to help, oh yah by the way, it must be in VISUAL BASIC, not C++ or others...

i would be very grateful if any of u could help me out, thanx...

    Hi fkheng,

    Try here http://rookscape.com/vbgaming/files.php
They have files and tutorials on most things.
How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

The MSDN archives have some good references.
All contents of the above post that aren't somebody elses are mine, not the property of some media corporation.
    (Just a heads-up)

I will grateful if some one could provide a very simple tutorial on how to use directplay. I just wants to know how i can send a msg from a client to server and vice verse and also the basic things that i need to declare before i can start to use direct play.

Check the samples in the SDK. They'll show you everything you need to know.

lol@the thought of programming in DirectX8 without the SDK

    Here is a good site

    www.vbworld.com

    no! wrong site!

    www.directx4vb.com

    thats better!

this site has many tutorials on all the areas of both DirectX8 and DirectX7. It has a special area for DirectPlay as well as all of the other components of DirectX and is well organised (in the main)!

    Hope it helps
