    Speed of the memory

    I was reading Art of Assembly and I saw this paragraph:
    You've probably seen the ads. "80386DX, 33 MHz, 8 megabytes 0 wait state RAM... only $1,000!" If you look closely at the specs you'll notice that the manufacturer is using 80 ns memory. How can they build systems which run at 33 MHz and have zero wait states? Easy. They lie.
    How the hell did that guy figure out the speed of the memory from the above given specs?

    He didnt. The quote he used was simply the heading of an advertisment, for instance. The "specs" he refers to arent quoted, but he assumes that there are additional specs to look at.

    I remember that quote from that book, too =).
